El Senor del Vino
(The Gentleman of Wine)

From high in the Andes of Ecuador, Senor Carlos Ramirez began his journey into the valley of the grape and barrel. Early in his youth he emigrated to the United States and spent a lifetime as a Professor of Mathematics.  As a college student with a backpack  he began his tour of the great vintages of the world. First, in his native South America,  he explored Argentina, and Chile, and found in his native continent the "machismo" of  Sauvignon  Blanc, Malbec, Torrentes, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Gewurztraminer.

One stifling summer in France he found that his wallet was thin, but his thirst great.  In a the tiny village of Mont Blanc he found a tinier grocery that sold bread, cheese, bottled water, and wine.  The wine was cheaper than the water!  The romance of wine enticed him to begin a life time love affair with the grape. Carlos researched Italy, France, Portugal, Greece and Spain and savored the rare complexity of wines that had matured over centuries. Wines such as  Pinot Grigio, Nebbiolo,  Nero D'Avola,  Barolo,  Barbaresco, Barbera d'Asti, Chianti Classico, Riesling, Puligni Montrachet, Chablis, Sancerre, Chateauneuf du Pape, Nemea, Robolla, Priorat, Rose, Albarino, Verdejo, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Ribera Del Duero, Rioja, .....

His mirage was to someday bring the marvels that he enjoyed throughout the world to a wine bar that balanced strength of the new world and the delicacy of the old. Senor Ramirez  gathered these years of knowledge and experience into the wine list for Le Rendezvous-The International Wine Bar.
