A to Z Pinot Noir is true to variety and vintage with bold aromatics and a palate to please. This wine has moderately-deep color and a tannin profile to match. The dark spices on the nose and palate complement the flavors you would expect from a good Oregon Pinot Noir: blackberry, raspberry, black cherry and earth.

A delectable blend of 85% Monastrell, 10% Merlot, and 5% Tempranillo, the AraO has a soft, inviting bouquet of cinnamon spice, clove, black cherry, and nutmeg. The entry boasts plush, silky red berry fruit, and the wine shows off an elegant mouthfeel with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. This medium-bodied wine will pair especially well with spicy or mild pork or veal, or one may simply enjoy it with appetizers or tapas.

There are 12 blocks of Shiraz on the Elderton Estate, some as old as 100 years, which grow in deep alluvial soils over limestone. Combined with a Mediterranean climate and minimal supplemented irrigation, this creates what one can only describe as ‘the perfect Shiraz vineyard’. Mainly the grapes are machine harvested in the cool of the night, at an optimum maturity of about 14 - 15 Baume. This allows a quick delivery to the winery for crushing, before any spoilage can occur. Vintage in 2005 occurred slightly later than usual, resulting in excellent quality fruit with higher Baume, good natural acid and superb flavour. The 2005 Estate wines, particularly the Shiraz, show great balance and potential for longevity.

The rich and creamy entry is followed by characteristic Puligny minerality and very nice acidity giving brightness at the finish. Overall, a delight, easy to drink and lovely. Pernot's Bourgogne always contains a fair amount of declassified Puligny Montrachet, and it shows. This is delicious and so quintessentially white Burgundy that it is very easy to like!
