A 20-year tawny is a blend of ports from several years, with the majority of the components at least 20 years old (some older, some younger). It's "the port producer's port of choice," says Broadbent. "This has the perfect balance of mature fruit and mellow wood. The balance of woody, nutty, vanilla flavors make this wine complex, affordable and serious." Equally good on its own or with autumn-style desserts (think pumpkin pie).

Appealing, dark fruit aroma leads to generous flavors of black cherry, plum and spice. The wine has a supple texture with refined tannins. The character shows all the way through the lingering finish.
|
To achieve its well-balanced rich cherry and berry character, this wine was aged in small French and American Oak barrels. Match it with hearty pasta, pork and roast beef.
