Clarendon Hills, 25 miles south of Adelaide, was established in 1989 by Roman Bratasiuk, the owner/winemaker. Since its establishment just over a decade ago Clarendon Hills has had amazing success. Clarendon Hills has received excellent reviews from both critics and publications alike. From The Wine Advocate to the Wine Companion and Wine Spectator, to being named as one of Robert Parker's 'Wine Producers of the Year' in his newsletter Issue 108 - Clarendon Hills continues to impress. In August 2003, Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) names Clarendon Hills as one of Australia and the world's greatest wineries. The quality of Clarendons success can be attributed to a number of things. Firstly the age of the vines, the town Clarendon was established in 1845. Today many of the vineyards surrounding the winery are over seventy years old; the gnarly and twisted bush vines are dry farmed and the grapes are hand picked. Secondly the soil variation and quality, the soil profiles of each winery are very different. This difference, from the rock and shale of Piggott Range to the heavy clay of the Clarendon Grenache Vineyard. Lastly Roman's dedication and philosophy to winemaking. His aim is quite simply to make wines equal to anything in the world.

The 2004 Romas Grenache highlights the quality of the fruit that is produced from eighty-six year old vines, planted on ironstone soils. Romas is produced from a parcel of vines located in the highest corner of the Blewitt Springs vineyard.

The wine encompasses deep ruby, purple hues scented with floral aromas of roses, violets, kirsch liqueur and spice box. Intense and full bodied in the mouth with flavors of black fruits, licorice and black truffles. Romas is concentrated with rich aromatics, exuberant fruit, spice flavors and amazing balance and a lingering finish.

This vineyard is planted on hard deep clay which is very important for the production of classic Merlot - blueberry, mulberry fruit and chocolate overtones. Always very rich persistent and full bodied flavour with great opulence.

Wine Spectator Intense aromas of crushed raspberry and plum follow through to a full-bodied palate, with soft tannins and a very fruity finish.

This is a much better wine than the red label.  It has a hot leather characteristic to it.  The nose is mostly cedar and black pepper.  But there is also leather and cherry.  While there is some cherry aroma, the fruit on the nose is fairly subtle.

Casa Lapostolle's Clos Apalta bottling has helped to establish Chile as a premier red-wine region. Owner Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle and her team created a blend of Chile's distinctive Carmenre variety.

Toasty characters from 8 months matruation in a combination of French and America oak, this wine may be enjoyed in its youth while the pleasant fruit flavours abound, or in the medium term as a 4 to 6 year old matured wine.

Clos Mogador is produced by the esteemed Rene Barbier who has hit homeruns in both 2003 and 2004. For starters, the 2003 Clos Mogador, a dark ruby/purple-colored wine, offers an impressive nose of toast and smoke, earth, charcoal, and blue fruits.

On the nose, there is an immediate burst of bright, fresh red fruits, including strawberry and raspberry, followed by an earthy quality.  On the palate, the wine has fine texture, soft tannins, good acidity and a strong core of fruit.  It is a wine that offers immediate pleasure, on its own, or better yet, in the company of a delicious meal. All in all, the 2007 is classic Pinot Noir.

A long, dry, relatively mild summer in 2007 left Oregon vineyards in perfect shape as harvest approached.  Some late rains and cooler harvest temperatures caused anxiety but ultimately produced another classic Oregon vintage.
