A pretty nose, ripe raspberry and dusty blackberry flavors and finesse define this wine as a classic Merlot from Stags' Leap Winery.

Appearance: Deep ruby red intensity with crimson accents

Aroma: Complex and layered with black plum and currants, vanilla, sage, and peppercorn, and sweet notes of toasty oak.

Flavors: Round, full-bodied palate with vibrant dark cherry fruit, sweet herbs and silky mouthfeel. Very supple and elegant, the finely knit tannins highlight bold fruit and sweet tobacco notes, giving a velvety finish.

Blackberry and cherry fruit tones dominate the nose, along with fruitcake, plum, and hints of violets, coffee, chocolate and caramel. A rich, supple and fleshy full-bodied palate finishes with balanced, fine tannins.

The Merlot was grown in our estate vineyard just south of Yountville, in the Oak Knoll AVA.. This region of the Napa Valley is ideal for bringing Merlot to full maturity, thus producing a full-bodied, rich, complex wine with a long lasting finish. The vines are oriented north/south so that they capture both morning and afternoon sun. Another unique characteristic of our Merlot is the hint of mint in the aroma and flavor that comes from Eucalyptus trees growing alongside the vines.
