REVIEW LIST Altair Vineyards     Sideral 2002 Solid and sweet, with a nose that’s plum-filled, fresh and intriguing. A blend of several grapes, but the base is Cabernet. Flavors of cherry, raspberry and plum are bright, while the finish is fairly bold and carries a note of chocolate. Not super lush but rock solid, with a serious tannic foundation. Close Alvaro Palacios     Finca Dofi 2005 Finca Dofi is sourced from a single estate vineyard planted to 60% Garnacha with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Carinena aged in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple, it offers a superb bouquet of slate, leather, pencil lead, wood smoke, and cedar. Youthful, tight, but perfectly balanced, this intense effort will evolve in the cellar for 8-10 years. The dusty tannins create a lush, velvety texture that displays great balance and charm. This cab, like Barefoot Merlot, made AOL’s Best Cheap Wines list. Like the Merlot, I’m not sure that I’d put Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon in my top 5 list for cheap wines, but it’s certainly a good value in the $6 - $7 range. Rouge 2004 Drouhin’s ubiquitous, 25,000-case generic “Laforet” displays tender, ripe cherry fruit, a silky palate and iodine-like minerality. Close Stags Leap     Stags Leap 2006 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "There's something Chablisian about this Chardonnay. It's partly the acidity, which is high, and partly the gunmetal minerality, courtesy of another cool vintage in the southern Napa/Carneros region where the grapes were grown.
